Web Design Prototypes

Goal: The WOpet app connects to a physical cat feeder. Redesign the WOpet app to make it easier and more enjoyable to use.

Goal: Create a website where service industry employees can review their places of work.

POW.com

Pow (Place of Work) was created to aid service industry employees with job searches. As these employees are typically younger and less experienced, they tend to be more vulnerable to shady business practices. Pow is a full transparency review site that offers highly personalized job searches with no strings attached.

The Process

Affinity Diagram

Creating Pow.com from the ground up began with gathering interviewees with some connection to the service industry, analyzing the data with an affinity diagram, and designing from there.

My team and I collectively interviewed 11 participants who had some background in the service industry.

We identified key information about how they look for jobs, the criteria for choosing a company, and how their different values determine an ideal workplace environment.

With these criteria, we were able to determine what users could filter for job searches.

We ensured users had ultimate privacy, could post verified reviews of their workplace, and could search for jobs with highly personalized filter options. The site also offers a job-matching quiz to assist users in finding their perfect fit.

WOpet Redesign

The WOpet is a cat feeder. The WOpet app connects to the product and allows users to set feeding times for their cat and access the camera on the feeder. Redesigning the app focused on reorganizing the flow and prioritizing user’s main goals.

The Redesign

The Original Design

User concerns addressed:

User interviews revealed some main concerns with the app, which were addressed in the design process. Those concerns included:

  • A lack of trust in the app

  • Bad contrast

  • Hard to use

  • Bad interface

  • Lack of personalization

What Changed?

The WOpet redesign offers a more personalized experience, allowing users to customize the image on their home screen. The interface feels more trustworthy and allows users to quickly navigate to their priorities (e.g., feeding, camera). Contrast is improved and the flow of the app is more intuitive.
